Common Questions
Everything you need to know about working with The Antidote — from your first consultation to ongoing support.
What to Expect
Here's what working with The Antidote looks like, step by step.
Choose your service and book a time that suits your schedule. All consultations are held via secure video call — wherever you are in the world.
We take a thorough health history — your symptoms, timeline, triggers and goals. This isn't a 10-minute appointment. We need the full picture.
Based on your consultation, we recommend targeted functional tests. Kits are shipped to your door and returned by post. We analyse the results using functional ranges.
You receive a personalised protocol — nutrition, supplements, lifestyle. We then support you month-to-month with follow-ups, adjustments and accountability.
General
Functional medicine looks for the root causes of illness rather than just managing symptoms. Instead of asking "what drug matches this symptom?", we ask "why is this symptom here in the first place?" We use advanced testing to understand what's actually happening in your body, then build personalised protocols using nutrition, supplementation and lifestyle changes.
Havening is a neuroscience-based therapy developed by Dr Ronald Ruden. It uses specific touch to generate delta waves in the brain, which permanently remove the emotional charge from traumatic or stressful memories. Unlike talk therapy, it works directly with the brain's encoding of trauma. You can still remember the event, but it no longer triggers a stress response.
No. You can book directly with us without a referral. We work alongside your existing healthcare providers — not against them. If needed, we can write to your GP with our findings and recommendations.
We work with anyone dealing with complex or chronic health conditions that haven't been resolved by conventional medicine. Many of our clients are entrepreneurs, founders and executives who understand that their health is the foundation of their performance. We also work with couples on fertility, people recovering from long Covid or viral infections, and anyone who's been told "everything is normal" but still doesn't feel well.
A regular nutritionist typically gives dietary advice based on symptoms. We go much deeper. We use advanced functional testing — DNA methylation, comprehensive blood panels, stool tests, hormone panels, environmental toxin screens — to understand what's actually happening in your body at a biochemical level. Then we build a protocol based on data, not guesswork.
Consultations & International Clients
All consultations take place via secure video call through our Practice Better platform. You book online, choose a time that works for your schedule, and we meet virtually. It works exactly like an in-person consultation — just without the commute. We work with clients across multiple time zones and schedule accordingly.
Absolutely. We work with clients across the UK, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Hong Kong, New York and beyond. All consultations are online, and we schedule around your time zone. We offer evening and flexible appointment slots to accommodate different regions.
Yes. Most of our functional tests use home collection kits (saliva, urine, stool or finger-prick blood) that can be shipped internationally and returned by post. For comprehensive blood panels, we can recommend accredited labs in your area. We'll guide you through the process based on your location.
An initial deep-dive consultation is typically 60–90 minutes. We need time to go through your full health history, symptoms, timeline and goals thoroughly. Follow-up consultations are usually 30–45 minutes. Havening sessions are typically 60 minutes.
Yes, and we encourage it. If you've had recent blood work done through your GP or privately, we can reanalyse your results using functional optimal ranges. Often the answers are already in data you have — it just hasn't been interpreted this way before.

Functional test fees are separate and vary depending on which tests are recommended for you.
Functional tests are recommended based on your individual needs and are charged separately. We never run tests for the sake of it — only those that are genuinely needed to answer your clinical questions. We'll always discuss costs before ordering anything.
Yes. Fertility is 50/50 — we optimise the health of both partners. Contact us directly to discuss our fertility packages for couples, which include hormone testing, genetic analysis and personalised protocols for both mother and father.
We don't process insurance claims directly, but we can provide detailed invoices and clinical reports that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. Many private health insurance plans cover nutritional therapy — check with your provider.
Testing & Results
We offer a wide range of tests including DNA methylation panels (LifecodeGx), comprehensive blood testing with functional analysis, DUTCH hormone panels, GI360 stool testing, mitochondrial health testing and environmental toxin screening (mould, heavy metals, plasticizers). We recommend tests based on your symptoms and health history — not a one-size-fits-all panel.
It depends on the test. Blood panels typically take 5–10 working days. Stool tests and hormone panels can take 2–4 weeks. DNA tests usually take 3–4 weeks. We'll give you a clear timeline when we order your tests, and we book your results consultation as soon as they're back.
MTHFR is an important gene variant that can affect how you process folate and B vitamins, but it's just one piece of the puzzle. We look at the full methylation cycle plus related pathways using LifecodeGx panels. If you're curious, book a consultation and we'll discuss whether methylation testing makes sense based on your symptoms and health history. Learn more about methylation testing.
GPs typically run a limited panel and use standard reference ranges designed to identify disease. We run comprehensive panels and interpret them using tighter, optimal functional ranges — catching patterns and imbalances before they become a diagnosis. We also look at how markers relate to each other, not in isolation. Learn more about functional blood testing.
