Normal vs. Optimal

Standard blood test reference ranges are designed to identify disease. They tell you whether you're clinically unwell. But there's a huge grey area between "diseased" and "thriving" — and that's where most people with chronic symptoms are living.

Functional blood analysis uses tighter, evidence-based optimal ranges to spot patterns and biomarkers that are heading in the wrong direction before they become a diagnosis. This is how we catch problems early and intervene before they become entrenched.

If you've ever been told your bloods are fine but you know something isn't right, functional blood analysis often reveals what's been missed.

Functional blood testing and analysis

What We Do Differently

Pattern Recognition

We don't look at markers in isolation. We examine how your results relate to each other — spotting patterns that reveal the underlying story behind your symptoms.

Functional Ranges

Standard ranges are wide. A TSH of 4.5 is "normal" by NHS standards but may indicate your thyroid is already struggling. We use tighter, optimal ranges that reflect where you should be for good health.

Comprehensive Panels

GPs typically run a limited set of markers. We run comprehensive panels that cover areas often overlooked — full thyroid, iron studies, inflammation, vitamin D, B12, folate and more.

What We Test

We build your blood panel based on your symptoms and health history. A typical comprehensive panel might include:

  • Full thyroid panel (TSH, T4, T3, antibodies)
  • Iron studies & ferritin
  • Vitamin D, B12 & folate
  • Inflammatory markers (CRP, ESR)
  • Blood sugar & insulin
  • Liver & kidney function
  • Sex hormones & SHBG
  • Homocysteine & methylation markers

Already Have Blood Test Results?

You don't always need new tests. If you've had recent blood work done through your GP or privately, we can reanalyse your results using functional ranges. Often the answers are already in data you already have — they just haven't been interpreted this way before.

Ready to Look Beyond "Normal"?

If your blood tests say you're fine but you don't feel fine, we can help you understand what they're really telling you.
